We've been hosting monthly cuppings on and off since the beginning of Uel Zing, drinking and learning about great coffee. A "cupping" is the industry standard to taste and compare coffees, simply brewing coffee in a cup, sans filter, smelling and slurping from a spoon. Our cuppings are fun, low-key, interactive classes that last about an hour, and include a Counter Culture flavor wheel, and all the coffee you can handle. Due to popular demand, we now pre-book the 16 available spots online, here. Read on for the full description!
We'll discuss coffee in general & current "third wave" coffee culture, learn about each specific coffee and where it came from, and then smell, "break the crust," and slurp three different coffees side by side. This month we'll be tasting the following coffees roasted by Tinker Coffee Co.: Costa Rica, Alajuela region; Tanzania, Arusha region; and our signature ZING blend of chocolatey Nicaraguan, berry-sweet Ethiopian Sidamo, and smoky Sumatran.
We have 8 sets of tasting cups, to be shared between 2 people each - bring a friend (or not)! Everyone gets a clipboard and tasting wheel to help think about the possible flavors and take notes.
$10/person for a fun, interactive tasting experience, a full-color Counter Culture Flavor Wheel to take home, and all the coffee you can handle - we'll have plenty of our cold brew flowing as well. Purchase tickets in advance online or at the Lab to reserve your spot - we cap it at 16 people.
Our cuppings take place the first weekend of every month — now on Sundays only — at 2pm. We used to do them on Saturdays, too, but not anymore b/c we are now officially in the Bloomington Farmers Market every Saturday.
